In the last few years there has been increasing numbers of children arriving late to school. Late arrivals disrupt the flow of learning in the classroom, since the teacher must then help these students catch up with what they have missed. In addition, the office staff must change the computerized attendance record for every student who comes in after the bell, resulting in long line ups at the office window, and disruption to the clerical staff's work.
